Currently, I am working with a group of 60 ladies from the Tegot-atoo village outside of Gulu, Uganda, teaching them sewing and more specifically, the art of quilting. All our quilts are hand pieced (sewn) and hand quilted. We are always in need of sewing notions and greatly appreciate what ever you could provide in the way of:
- Hand Sewing needles
- Quilting needles
- Sewing thread (white)
- Quilting thread ( all colors)
- Common/quilting pins
- Stitch rippers
- Shears
- Rotary Cutters
- Rotary Cutter blades
- Rotary cutter mats
- Quilt batting
Quilt batting is difficult to obtain here in Uganda so that is always a request. It’s light weight so should not be too costly to ship, plus in shrinks well if a vacume bag is used to pack it and the most inexpensive batting would be most welcomed.
If you could supply any of these items, in new or used condition would be most appreciative and welcomed. Perhaps you could organize a “sewing notion” drive at your church or women’s group.
Any of these items can be mailed to my attention at:

Thank you for your investment in the lives of women and children in Uganda. Together, with God leading, we can make a difference in their lives.
Isaiah 58: 6-7
Hi Nancy,
I am now friends with Christine Sliwinski. My husband and I first traveled to Uganda last November. We have started a new ministry called Grow Uganda. We purpose to help the Christians of Uganda build successful businesses and help rebuild their economy. We are traveling to the Gulu area again in November and are partnering with Christine and also with Pastor Moses Ssembanda from Uganda (he has founded 131 churches and has several schools/orphanages through out the country). I am looking for as many contacts and resources as I can to make our efforts profitable. Do you work with Christine? Will you be in Uganda in November.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Cherie
